Ian Shaw (Egyptologist)
Ian Shaw, (born 1961) is an Egyptologist and academic, who was formerly Reader in Egyptian Archaeology at the University of Liverpool. Life His field work was largely focused in el-Amarna, but in recent times, he has done extensive excavations of mining and quarrying sites from many different Ancient Egyptian periods. He primarily focuses his recent work on methods and mechanics of Egyptian craftsmen and laborers. However, he has produced several works regarding ancient Egyptian warfare; a topic that had long been ignored or only briefly commented on by other researchers. Besides writing original books, he also has edited several "dictionaries" of Ancient Egypt (which might more correctly be labeled "encyclopedias"; they are in no way lexicons). On 15 March 2018, Shaw was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA). Ian Shaw (singer)
Ian Shaw (born 2 June 1962) is a Welsh jazz singer, record producer, actor and stand-up comedian. Shaw was born in St. Asaph, Wales, and took his music degree at the University of London. His career in performance began in the 1980s on the alternative cabaret circuit, alongside such performers as Julian Clary, Rory Bremner, and Jo Brand. At the same time, he was playing in piano bars and at festivals in London and throughout Europe. In 1990 he toured Europe and recorded with fellow singer Carol Grimes. Since this time, Shaw has regularly worked in duo settings with other singers, including Claire Martin, Linda Lewis, Liane Carroll, and Sarah Jane Morris. By the mid-1990s, he was regularly performing at the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and in 1995 released two albums on the club's Jazzhouse label: ''Ghosthouse'' and a tribute to Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart '' Taking It to Hart''. Ian Shaw (born 18 December 1969) is an English stage and screen actor. He is the son of actress Mary Ure and actor Robert Shaw. Career After studying American Studies at Sussex University, Shaw trained as an actor at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
